Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology and diseases of the eye. Common signs that may indicate an eye problem include eye redness, discharge, swelling, squinting, color change, light sensitivity and rubbing or scratching the eye. Examples of eye diseases include conjunctivitis, corneal abrasions and ulcerations, dry eye, foreign bodies, cataracts, glaucoma, retinal atrophy and uveitis.

We may recommend diagnostic tests depending on your pet’s signs and physical examination findings. Treatment options may include prescription eye drops or ointments, oral medications and surgery.
