Dental Care

Proper dental care is extremely important for our pets. In fact, dental disease is the number one illness found in both dogs and cats. Unfortunately, up to 80% of dogs and 70% of cats that don’t receive proper dental care will develop signs of dental disease by the age of three. Some possible signs of dental disease include bad breath, visible tartar on the teeth, excessive drooling, red or swollen gums, loose or missing teeth, loss of appetite and weight loss. Dental disease can also lead to internal problems, such as heart, kidney, and liver disease.

Fortunately, many of these problems can be prevented, or at least alleviated, with proper dental care. This includes regular preventative care at home, such as brushing, tartar control treats and feeding high quality diets. Regular dental examinations and professional cleanings are also required to maintain optimum dental health. The dental examination, performed with your pet’s regular complete physical examination, will allow us to recommend the most appropriate dental care for your pet.
